A French brasserie with subtle nods in decor to the Southeast Asian elements on the menu. Antique light fixtures, opulent wallpaper and sweeping drapery are all layered to visually transport you while you dine.

This jewel of serenity includes numerous playful homages to ownership. The Paspaley family is a pearling empire based in Australia and the design reflects that in mother of pearl inlay in the bathrooms, custom oyster shell shaped bottle openers (as part of a charitable partnership we established with Billion Oyster Project), and bespoke Aboriginal art.

The James Brand at this time was establishing itself as a wellness destination with artistic but approachable public spaces that provided hubs for guests & locals to work, relax and connect in a warmly modern environment.

For James Nomad we were very committed to providing flexible

guest rooms that offered spaces to work and socialize.

In the Spring of 2017 we installed every bit of FF&E and OS&E in preperation for opening this 286 key property. That summer we were informed by ownership that the hotel was sold for what was at the time a record land deal and would unfortunately never be operated as a James Hotel.

The renovation of the James Chicago lobby was a celebration of color and vibrancy. The tiles on the new fireplace shimmered in the light emanating from our custom tubular ceiling fixtures.

This renovation was an homage to all of the natural elements in nearby Central Park. References to buds & blooms in furniture pieces were interspersed with photography that had been scaled to create an impact as framed wallpaper placed behind headboards and seating groupings.

Renovation of the guest rooms at the Shelburne Hotel was complicated in that ownership requested we reuse a significant portion of the larger casegood pieces in the rooms. Despite these limitations ownership was delighted with the final product.
